Here are a few tips for how to make the best of your travel time:

Schedule ahead. Leave on time for the airport. EF recommends being at the airport 3-4 hrs before your flight departs. It often takes longer than you might expect to coordinate with a large group of people and the extra time will allow for a smoother experience. Also, it never hurts to make a list! It might sound old school but it’s the best way to make sure you have all the essential documents, like passports, visas, tickets, etc.

Charge your electronics. Be sure to fully charge your phone, tablet, and/or computer battery before you leave your house and don’t forget to pack any charging cords, earphones, and portable chargers. If you plan on relying on your device to help pass the travel time, chances are you are going to need a recharge at some point!

Bring Water & Snacks. Be sure to pack a water bottle and some snacks, just in case you don’t like the options at the airport or the ones that are served on your aircraft. Packing your own snacks is also a great money saver!

PRO TIP: Take your water bottle and refill it after you get through security to save money and reduce the use of plastic!

Comfort. You might want to consider traveling with loose clothing to prevent being uncomfortable while traveling. Wear comfortable sneakers as shoes and bring a hoodie in case it gets chilly (especially for night flights). Hand sanitizer, tissues, and wipes, always come in handy too!

Entertainment. Bring a book (or two)! Be prepared to entertain yourself with some reading, or download a couple of movies on your phone, tablet or computer beforehand. Netflix is our go-to resource for downloading shows ahead of time!

These tips will help you have the best trip from the very beginning. Don’t forget, chance are you are about to have a life-changing experience, so don’t sweat the small stuff!
